Emergency Refugee Housing: Help Dreams Come True

The Refugee Resettlement in America is not functioning well at all in some areas of the country.  Some families are made to languish in hotels with little help from their agency for weeks. Some families are shown completely inappropriate housing in run down, crime-ridden neighborhoods. Stories of cockroaches and dead rats are becoming common-place

Rental prices have skyrocketed. New refugees do not have the credit score, job history or references to get into housing. If the resettlement agency they are sent to has no housing, they have few options. Besides opening up apartments near other South Africans in locations around the country(which is happening now), we wish to have a safety net home they can go to, especially if they are in an unsafe area of a city.

We feel that single and also older people with PTSD would be a focus of Liberty House and seek to build an atmosphere of mutual assistance, comradery and dignity for their healing journey. Families with small children placed in untenable situations are also of great concern.

Our tiny non-profit has made a big impact so far with guidance and precise information since the Refugee Program for South Africans was announced. We will continue the hard work, our Board and our Team that grow day-by-day, to improve the outcome of resettlement in America.
